Coach-Pitch Practice Plans (Ages 6-7)

At this level, we introduce more team concepts while keeping practices fast-paced and engaging through stations.

Sample 60-Minute Practice Plan

  1. Warm-up (10 mins): Start with dynamic warm-ups like jogging the bases, high knees, and arm circles. Follow with partner throwing, focusing on proper form.
  2. Station Rotations (30 mins - 10 mins each): Divide the team into three groups.
    • Station 1: Fielding. Set up two lines. Roll grounders to the first player, who fields and throws to the player at the front of the other line. This keeps everyone moving.
    • Station 2: Hitting. Coach-pitch soft toss into a net. Focus on level swings and making contact. Use a tee for players who are struggling.
    • Station 3: Baserunning. Practice running to first base, and then introduce "rounding the bag" to head for second.
  3. Team Defense (15 mins): Put players in their positions. Hit grounders and fly balls from home plate and have them make plays, like throwing to first base. Introduce the concept of a "force out."
  4. Wrap-up (5 mins): Bring the team together. Talk about one positive thing from practice and one thing to work on. End with a team cheer.
